FloormapVS
Computerized MFL corrosion detection & sizing for tank bottom inspection using advanced magnetic flux leakage technology

Silverwing's latest version of the best selling Floormap MFL tank bottom inspection scanner now comes with up-graded magnets to improve defect detectability and sizing on thicker materials, faster data capture with a custom designed micro controller and all new software. The tank inspection system is designed specifically with the operator in mind, the motorised FloormapVS takes all the strain giving you more consistent results and less operator dependancy.

The FloormapVS tank bottom inspection system now provides:

Semi-Automated CAD drawing
Patch plate design feature
Ruggedised touch screen computer
Real time data acquisition and analysis
Hard copy and electronic report functions
Combined dynamic filtering and amplitude analysis
Add data from Visual, Ultrasonic, Vacuum box and MPI Inspection

FloormapVS on-board computer
The ruggedised on-board computer uses touch screen technology for ease of use within the hostile storage tank environment. The custom designed data acquisition software not only captures all the MFL signals but analyses and displays the location and severity of the corrosion in real time.

The off-line reporting software automatically produces a CAD drawing of the tank floor with the defects being positioned to within 30mm accuracy on a 15m scan length.

All captured data, over 20% loss of the nominal plate thickness as sized by the on-board software, is re-analyzed in the off-line reporting software, using dynamic filters which automatically detect the type of corrosion whether it is pipe, conical or lake type. Depending on the defect profile the dynamic filters adjust the estimated material loss either up or down as required in relation to the peak amplitude loss estimation generated by the on-board software.

The combination of dynamic filtering plus amplitude analysis ensures enhanced defect sizing even on badly corroded floors where small diameter deep pits may otherwise have been undersized.

The operator can filter the severity level of the corrosion being displayed electronically or printed as a hard copy to simplify location of repairable defects or as an aid to calculating remaining life of individual plates or even complete floors.

A comprehensive statistics package which can be configured for the whole tank or individual plates is included in the package as is a patch plate design function. Additional data from visual, ultrasonic, vacuum box and magnetic particle inspection can be added to the report generating a full fingerprint of the tank floor including the annular plates.

The reporting software is supplied as both “full” and “read-only” versions. The full version comes with a single user license for the inspection company. The read only version comes with a multiple user license and can be free issued to any customer of the tank inspection company enabling them to provide full electronic reporting. An innovative feature of the software allows subsequent inspection data to be overlaid and corrosion growth identified. Now the Tankage Engineer can produce a full current fingerprint of his tank floor, no matter what age, carry out immediate repairs as required and then re-inspect at a set time interval to produce accurate corrosion growth patterns and so predict future maintenance requirements.
