Two main types of Vacuum Box systems are available: a) The standard “High Pressure” models which are designed to produce an operating vacuum of 20 inch Hg (10 psi) meeting the latest EEMUA, API & ASME specifications for inspection of above ground storage tanks that have been in service. b) The “low pressure” models which are designed to produce an operating pressure of 10 inch Hg (5 psi) and are best suited for weld integrity checks on new tank builds where gross defects are the main concern. |

Both the High Pressure & the Low Pressure models are available configured for use with either an electric pump or an external compressor to generate the vacuum. Each type also includes, as standard, a pressure relief valve calibrated to either 20 or 10 inch Hg depending on the model. Our standard, lightweight, portable vacuum boxes are available for lap/butt welds on tank floors of any size and for shell to annular welds on tanks with a diameter of 5 metres and above. The Silverwing vacuum box system is highly effective and provides a rapid, economic method of evaluating the integrity of various welds. Although designed for the harsh environments of above ground storage tanks our vacuum box system is suitable for a wide range of applications. |
