ScanmapVS  

The ScanmapVS combined A-scan, B-scan & C-scan system is our most versatile and comprehensive ultrasonic corrosion mapping system. The system utilises the proven reliability of the Scorpion wall crawler with an added transverse scanner fitted to the front end. With the transverse scanner covering a 130 mm wide strip at a speed of 600 mm per second and a forward crawler speed of 900mm per minute the ScanmapVS provides rapid inspection whilst achieving complete UT coverage. A focussed single crystal transducer is mounted in a water column to provide ultrasonic coupling. As it is a form of UT “immersion” inspection it is possible to measure the water path for top surface corrosion mapping as well as the material thickness for far side corrosion.

By combining a high speed ultrasonic pulser/receiver card, supplied by NDT Automation, and a bespoke version of Ultrawin ™ ultrasonic imaging software with the Scorpion scanner, Silverwing’s ScanmapVS benefits from proven technology at the outset. Stored data can be viewed as either A-scan, B-scan or C-scan images. The ScanmapVS system now makes it possible to ultrasonically scan a 130mm wide strip vertically up the side of a storage tank, column or pressure vessel in less than 15 minutes. Meet or even exceed the requirements of the relevant inspection standards without the need for costly rope access or scaffolding.
